He advocates the use of ozone gas to treat cancer and AIDS, but last September when a patient in his office who was injecting herself with ozone complained of headaches and weakness, Atkins allegedly waited hours before sending her to a hospital, leading the New York health commissioner to call Atkins' medical practice "an imminent danger to the health of the people of this state." Facing a hearing, the diet guru says he is being harassed for his belief in alternative medicine.
